Eric Kaspar
Head Golf Professional
Eric grew up in Lake Charles, LA where he started playing golf at 8 years old with his father and 3 brothers. Later, he played golf at Schreiner Junior College before graduating from Texas A&M University in 1985. His first job in the golf industry was at Hyatt Bear Creek in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. There, he advanced to Tournament Director at this 36-hole facility and gained his Class A Membership in the PGA in 1988. After moving on to a couple other courses as Head Golf Professional, in 1996 Eric visited a new course still under construction that he had heard about on the Toledo Bend Reservoir – Cypress Bend Golf Course. He was so impressed with the scenery of the new course that he accepted the position of Head Golf Professional, and he helped the Sabine River Authority open Cypress Bend in September 1996. Eric enjoyed several years at Cypress Bend before moving on with the Louisiana Offices of Tourism and State Parks helping promote and grow the Audubon Golf Trail as well as running Black Bear Golf Course in Delhi, LA. Many years later, Eric revisited Cypress Bend and rejoined the course in 2018 as the Head Golf Professional/Director of Golf. It was exciting news when the SRA voted to renovate the course starting in 2022. Eric says of the renovation “Cypress Bend had always been one of the most scenic and beautiful courses anywhere with the Toledo Bend Lake bordering 10 holes, but often poor playing conditions and a couple of unconventional hole designs were detractions. Now, with outstanding playing conditions and challenging, but well-designed holes to match the scenery, Cypress Bend will be the premier destination course in Louisiana”.
